In addition to working as an editor and translator, I also write fiction. My work has been shortlisted for several prizes, including the 2011 Dundee International Book Prize as well as the Fish Short Story Prize and the Half and One Prize. My short story "Take Care" was a finalist for the 2019 Curt Johnson Prose Award in Fiction, and my story "Chop Chop" was a winner of the 2022 Vocal+ Fiction awards. You can read more of my work here.
My short story "Al-Watan" was a winner of the 2019 Bridport Prize and was published in the Bridport Prize Anthology.
"The Crossing" was shortlisted for the 2018 Owl Canyon Hackathon and published in the anthology 27 Stories.
My short story “Elsewhere, OK” was a runner-up for the 2017 Berlin Writing Prize and has been published in the anthology Home Is Elsewhere.
